This blue box holds my new prescription sunglasses!!! Since my insurance expires at the end of the month and we are switching to Scott's I had to "spend" the money on my health savings card by the end of this month. Well I had entirely too much to let it disappear.....so a new pair of sunglasses it was!!! They are like a piece of jewelry....so pretty and shiny!!!!

A day in history
My first......and last.....little blue box! I had to record this event because it will probably never happen again! I am far to "thrifty" to let my hubs buy me an overpriced piece of jewelry just because is comes in a blue box! I have never even darkened the door of Tiffany's.....probably because the above mentioned "thriftyness" would fly out the window as I was overtaken with the love of shiny things that go in my ears, on my neck and on my finger!!!!
BBQ sauce
Looks like BBQ sauce, right??? Since we were eating BBQ chicken last night and knowing that "fast hands" had been in daddy's lap at the table, the assumption would be BBQ sauce, right?? We are snapping pictures because it is so cute she is laughing like she has been "into" something! Well, we give her a bath thinking the BBQ sauce will come right off......
Nope....her skin was stained yellow and it would not come off. OK....so it's not BBQ sauce, but what is it??? It finally dawned on me that there had been some flowers on the buffet behind the dinner table...lilies with the pollen bulbs on them. She must have grabbed the flowers when daddy picked her up. So we look up if the pollen from lilies is poisonous.....and it is for CATS! Well I immediately call our friend that is a doctor and he said as long as she is breathing fine then it should be OK....the pollen cannot be absorbed through the skin! Goodness......well, she is fine and the pollen stains were gone this morning when she woke up!!
No more lilies in our house :)

Thankful!
Whew....today has been _________! I cannot even think of a word to accurately describe it. All started well with anticipation to get to my new "Moms" group! I am so thrilled to be a in the midst of women are like-minded when it comes to mothering. It is refreshing to hear others joys, trials, and questions about being the mom that God has called us to be. I would say that so far the thing that has stuck in my mind from what we have been learning is that being a mom is a CALLING not a job. God has a specific design for a family and there is a vital role He has for me as a mom, wife and caretaker of our home! Very scary, but so exciting to be doing exactly what God equipped me for!!! After having my cup filled with encouragement and reminders of the privilege I have of being a mom....the rest of the day looked something like this---
*Because of our Moms group, Elsie misses her morning nap. So far I have been able to keep her awake until we get home by singing, talking or playing the radio very loudly. Not today....she was asleep in 2 seconds flat! When this happens I usually have a hard time getting her down for her afternoon nap!
*I get home to no water b/c we are having our bathroom remodeled. No problem.....the water I use for Elsie's bottle is spring water so we will be fine (so I think). I am a teacher and I can "hold it" for a long time...you teachers out there know what I mean...so no flushing toilet is fine too!
* I put Elsie down a little earlier than usual since she missed her morning nap....and as expected she did not take to it well. I had her in the pack and play in the back room because her bedroom is across the hall from the renovation. Well.....she fussed, talked to herself, played, talked to herself some more then finally dozed off after an hour.
*An hour later...she was up and at 'em, chatting to herself so I went in to get her. When I opened the door it smelled terrible. Elsie had poop all over her, her sheet, her blankie, the sides of the pack and play........and my water is STILL cut off b/c the plumper is installing the new valve for the tub/shower faucets! I take Elsie to her room and clean her off with baby wipes, spray down the pack and play with cleaning spray and use spray and wash on all the other things that have been "stained" until I can get them in the washer!
*Elsie proceeds to spend the remainder of the afternoon crying, fussing and requiring every second of my attention. For those of you that know her......this is very unusual. She is so self-sufficient and often times hardly knows I have left the room--not today!
Needless to say bedtime came a little earlier than usual this evening and we had takeout for dinner! I am so thankful that I have an understanding husband who when I called said he would pick up dinner!!
Being a mom is a calling!!!! Thank you Lord for my "poop" filled day! I am so thankful that I am the one that gets to clean up all her messes!

What she's up to these days...
Excuse the industrial shower curtain....we have some missing tile and the wood is exposed in the bath (bathroom #2 renovations are soon to be underway)
Well, Elsie is up to quite a bit these days! Last week she weighed in at 17 lbs. 13 oz. :) She is still in the 25th percentile for weight but her head and length are in the 75 percentile. LONG and LEAN!!! She drinks between 15 and 20 oz of formula each day, eats 18 oz of solids (pureed) and at least one container of yogurt each day! Some days she will eat strawberries and bananas cut up, other days she will have nothing to do with them. She still LOVES puffs and has started drinking water!
HORRAY!!! We finally have our first tooth coming in. So far there has been no fussing or fever!! Last week we went to the doc 2 times in one week....once for a checkup and the other time for a rash that suddenly broke out. The doc says it is viral, not contagious and is not bothering her. We just have to wait for it to go away :)
We have a cruiser.....moving across the rooming hanging on to furniture. I think she will be walking very soon!
Elsie does not seem to favor any toys yet...she does love her Violet (cousin Isabelle introduced us to this neat toy)! She is also quite fond of her Little Giraffe blankets (we have the big one and small one). She loves to rub her face on it while she is getting her bedtime bottle and she snuggles it while she goes to sleep! She still loves her Exersaucer and door jumper....will play in there for 30 minutes at a time! She loves mirrors....she starts smiling and kissing the mirror when she sees herself. Speaking of kissing...this girl will pucker up and lay a wet one on you! She also loves books....she must think that nibbling the corners is how you read!!!
Elsie says "mama", "dada" and "baba"! She can wave when you wave at her. I think she knows who Charlie is....I will say his name and she starts looking around for him! She is sooo content to play by herself. If I have her contained I can leave her to play and come back to check every few minutes and can get stuff done around the house....such an angel!!!
She is growing up too fast!!!!

In-town hike
Since the weather has been so beautiful this weekend and we only have a limited amount of time between naps, we headed up to Sandy Springs for a short hike and Saturday! It was beautiful and we hardly knew we were in the middle of town!
