How to stop a photo shoot...

Papa Denbow here (posting for the very first time...unauthorized mind you). I've quickly discovered that having a child produces an almost limitless supply of precious and entertaining moments. If this is my only outlet to record some of these...well, then I'm going for it. I want the world to know that I love this little girl.

Today was Elsie's newborn photo shoot. No, that is not an oxymoron. A real live photographer came to our house with props to take a series of carefully crafted poses on our bed. Elsie was determined to make us all work for the shots. She started the shoot in a very sleepy state, so moving her into position was pretty easy but about an hour in to the shoot she started getting hungry. Mom fed her 3x over the next couple hours and each time we would take advantage of her "milk drunk" state to snap a few more shots. As the afternoon wore on, her patience (and mine) started to wear thin. The photographer was aware that her subjects were about to "check out" but decided to force one more shot with me holding Elsie in my folded arms on the bed. The pose was pretty awkward, so the photographer had to keep demonstrating the technique to me. Meanwhile, Elsie is wailing and trying to squirm out of my arms. Finally, the photographer gets tired of trying to explain the pose and instead has me hold naked Elsie in front of me. Dad looks up and smiles. Photographer gets behind camera. Flash goes off. And...Elsie pees all over me and the bed.

Even if she pee'd on me everyday, I would still love her.

We are so blessed.

Scott, I think you just got baptized into the world of parenthood! Isabelle did the same thing to Ryan but fortunately he had Jen's black blanket to catch it :)
